حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ عِلَاقَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَجُلًا عِنْدَ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا تَسُبُّوا الْأَمْوَاتَ ، فَتُؤْذُوا الْأَحْيَاءَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade speaking ill of the dead, for it causes harm to the living.
