حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ ، عَنْ وَرَّادٍ كَاتِبِ الْمُغِيرَةِ ، عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ ، قَالَ سَعْدُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ : لَوْ رَأَيْتُ رَجُلًا مَعَ امْرَأَتِي لَضَرَبْتُهُ بِالسَّيْفِ غَيْرَ مُصْفَحٍ ، فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " أَتَعْجَبُونَ مِنْ غَيْرَةِ سَعْدٍ ، وَاللَّهِ لَأَنَا أَغْيَرُ مِنْهُ ، وَاللَّهُ أَغْيَرُ مِنِّي ، وَمِنْ أَجْلِ غَيْرَةِ اللَّهِ حَرَّمَ الْفَوَاحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَا بَطَنَ ، وَلَا شَخْصَ أَغْيَرُ مِنَ اللَّهِ ، وَلَا شَخْصَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْهِ الْعُذْرُ مِنَ اللَّهِ ، مِنْ أَجْلِ ذَلِكَ بَعَثَ اللَّهُ الْمُرْسَلِينَ مُبَشِّرِينَ وَمُنْذِرِينَ ، وَلَا شَخْصَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْهِ مِدْحَةٌ مِنَ اللَّهِ ، مِنْ أَجْلِ ذَلِكَ وَعَدَ اللَّهُ الْجَنَّةَ " . .
It is narrated from Hazrat Mughirah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once Hazrat Sa'd bin Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "If I see a strange man with my wife, I will strike his neck with a sword." When this statement reached the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), he said, "Are you amazed at Sa'd's sense of honor? By Allah! I am more possessive than all of you, and Allah is more possessive than I am. Because of this, He has made open and hidden indecencies unlawful. And there is no one more possessive than Allah, and there is no one who loves to accept excuses more than Allah. For this reason, Allah has promised Paradise." The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain. Ubaidullah Qawariyri (may Allah have mercy on him) says that there is no hadith harsher than this one in the view of the Jahmiyyah sect, that there is no one who loves to be praised more than Allah Almighty.
