It is narrated from Hazrat Mughirah bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the occasion of the Battle of Tabuk, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went to relieve himself and I also went along carrying water. When the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned, I presented water to him and kept pouring it. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) washed his face. After that, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began to roll up his sleeves from his arms, but the Syrian cloak that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was wearing had tight sleeves, so they could not be rolled up. Therefore, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took both hands out from underneath, and washed his face and hands, wiped his head to the extent of the forehead, wiped over his turban, and wiped over his leather socks, and mounted for the return. When we reached the people, the prayer had already started and Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) had led one rak’ah and was in the second rak’ah. I was about to go and inform him, but the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stopped me, and we performed the rak’ah that we caught, and completed what we had missed (after the salam). After finishing the prayer, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “You did well.” The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain.
