Hadith 18084

حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ لَيْثٍ ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ خَارِجَةَ الثُّمَالِيِّ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْهَدْيِ يَعْطَبُ ، قَالَ : " انْحَرْهُ وَاصْبُغْ نَعْلَهُ فِي دَمِهِ ، وَاضْرِبْ بِهِ عَلَى صَفْحَتِهِ " ، أَوْ قَالَ : " عَلَى جَنْبِهِ وَلَا تَأْكُلَنَّ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا أَنْتَ وَلَا أَهْلُ رُفْقَتِكَ ".
It is narrated from Hazrat Amr bin Khariyah (may Allah be pleased with him) that I asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about the sacrificial animal that is near death. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Slaughter it, dye its hoof in its blood, and apply it to its forehead or side, and neither you nor your companions should eat anything from it.
