It is narrated from Shurahbil bin Simt (may Allah have mercy on him) that he submitted to Hazrat Ka'b bin Murrah (may Allah be pleased with him), "O Ka'b bin Murrah! Please narrate to us a hadith of the Prophet (peace be upon him) with caution." He said, "I heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) say: O people of Sana! Practice archery. Whoever's arrow strikes the enemy, Allah raises him one rank. Abdur Rahman bin Abi Nuham asked, 'O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), what is meant by a rank?' The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied, 'It is not a small rank like the threshold of your mother's house. The distance between two ranks in Paradise is a hundred years.'"
