It is narrated from Hazrat Ka’b bin Murrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that I asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): At which part of the night is supplication more likely to be accepted? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: In the last part of the night. Then he said: Prayer continues to be accepted until you perform the Fajr prayer, then there is no prayer until the sun rises, until the sun has risen the length of one or two spears, then prayer continues to be accepted until the shadow of the sun becomes the length of one spear, after that there is no prayer until the time of decline (zawal), then prayer continues to be accepted until you perform the Asr prayer, then there is no prayer until sunset. And when a person performs ablution and washes his hands, the sins of his hands fall away; when he washes his face, the sins of his face fall away; when he washes his arms, the sins of his arms fall away; and when he washes his feet, the sins of his feet fall away. Shu’bah (may Allah have mercy on him) says that the narrator did not mention wiping the head. Whoever frees a Muslim (slave), it becomes a means of his deliverance from Hell, and for every limb of the slave, a limb of the one who frees him is freed. And whoever frees two Muslim women, both become a means of his deliverance from Hell, and for every limb of theirs, a limb of the one who frees them is freed from Hell. And if a woman frees a Muslim woman, she becomes a means of her deliverance from Hell, and for every limb of the slave woman, a limb of the one who frees her is freed from Hell.
