Abu Nadrah says that once on a Friday we came to Hazrat Uthman bin Abi al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) so that we could compare the Mushaf with his Mushaf. When the time for Friday approached, he ordered us and we performed ghusl (ritual bath), then perfume was brought to us, which we applied, then we went to the mosque and sat with a man, who began to narrate to us hadiths about the Dajjal. Meanwhile, Hazrat Uthman bin Abi al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) also arrived, and we stood up out of respect for him. He told us to sit and said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say that the Muslims will have three cities: one city will be located at the junction of two seas, one in Hira, and one in Sham (Syria). Three times, events of fear and panic will occur among the people, then the Dajjal will emerge and he will defeat the people of the East. Then the first city he will attack will be the one located at the junction of two seas. The people there will be divided into three groups: one group will stand up and say, "Let us go to him and see what he is," the second group will join the villagers, and the third group will move to a nearby city. At that time, there will be seventy thousand people with the Dajjal, who will be wearing green cloaks, and most of his followers will be Jews and women. Then he will turn to the second city, and the people there will also be divided into three groups (as mentioned before). In this way, the Muslims will gather in a valley called Afiq. Then they will send a detachment to confront him, but all of them will be martyred. At that time, the Muslims will be in great hardship, facing severe hunger and extreme distress, to the extent that a man will burn the string of his bow and begin to eat it. While they are in this state, one morning a caller will announce: "O people! Your helper has arrived." The people will say among themselves, "This is the voice of a well-fed man." At that time, near the time of Fajr prayer, Hazrat Isa (Jesus, peace be upon him) will descend. The leader of the Muslims (Imam Mahdi, may Allah be pleased with him) will request him, "O Spirit of Allah! Come forward and lead the prayer." He will reply, "The people of this Ummah are leaders over one another, so their leader should lead the prayer." When Hazrat Isa (peace be upon him) finishes the prayer, he will take his spear and set out towards the Dajjal. When the Dajjal sees him, he will begin to melt like lead. Hazrat Isa (peace be upon him) will strike his spear between his chest and kill him. His followers will be defeated, and on that day there will be nothing that will hide them behind itself, even the trees will say, "O believer! Here is a disbeliever," and the stones will say, "O believer! Here is a disbeliever." The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain.
