It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and all the pure wives were present there. All of them observed veiling from me except Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) (because Sayyidah Maymunah was his sister-in-law). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever was present at the time when medicine was forcibly put into my mouth, medicine should also be forcibly put into his mouth, but my oath does not apply to Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him)." Then he said, "Order Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer." Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said to Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) to request the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that when Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) stands in your place, he will start weeping (and will not be able to control himself). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) again said, "Order Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer." So he stood up and led the prayer. Meanwhile, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also felt some relief in his illness, and he also came for the prayer. At this, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) wanted to step back, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came and sat beside him and recited (the Qur'an).
