Hadith 17824

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْفَرَجُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَصْمَانِ يَخْتَصِمَانِ ، فَقَالَ لِعَمْرٍو : " اقْضِ بَيْنَهُمَا يَا عَمْرُو " . فَقَالَ : أَنْتَ أَوْلَى بِذَلِكَ مِنِّي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ . قَالَ : " وَإِنْ كَانَ " . قَالَ : فَإِذَا قَضَيْتُ بَيْنَهُمَا فَمَا لِي ؟ قَالَ : " إِنْ أَنْتَ قَضَيْتَ بَيْنَهُمَا فَأَصَبْتَ الْقَضَاءَ ، فَلَكَ عَشْرُ حَسَنَاتٍ ، وَإِنْ أَنْتَ اجْتَهَدْتَ وَأَخْطَأْتَ ، فَلَكَ حَسَنَةٌ " . .
It is narrated from Hazrat Amr bin Aas that once two men brought their dispute to the Prophet (peace be upon him). The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to Hazrat Amr (may Allah be pleased with him), "O Amr! Decide between them." He submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! (peace be upon him) Are you not more deserving of this than me?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "O Amr! Decide between them." He submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! (peace be upon him) Are you not more deserving of this than me?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Even so, I command you to do this." He said, "If I decide between them, what reward will I get?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "If you decide between them and are correct, you will get ten good deeds, and if you strive but make a mistake in the decision, you will get one good deed." The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain.
