Hadith 17820

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ بُسْرِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي قَيْسٍ مَوْلَى عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا حَكَمَ الْحَاكِمُ فَاجْتَهَدَ فَأَصَابَ ، فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ ، وَإِنْ أَخْطَأَ ، فَلَهُ أَجْرٌ " . قَالَ يَزِيدُ : فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِأَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ حَزْمٍ ، فَقَالَ : هَكَذَا حَدَّثَنِي بِهِ أَبُو سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمِثْلِهِ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Amr bin Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: When a ruler passes a judgment and strives with full caution and effort and makes the correct decision, he will receive a double reward, and if he makes a mistake despite caution, he will still receive a single reward. The previous hadith is also narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) through this second chain of narration.
