حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ الْعَاصِ ، يَقُولُ : " لَقَدْ أَصْبَحْتُمْ وَأَمْسَيْتُمْ تَرْغَبُونَ فِيمَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَزْهَدُ فِيهِ أَصْبَحْتُمْ تَرْغَبُونَ فِي الدُّنْيَا ، وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَزْهَدُ فِيهَا ، وَاللَّهِ مَا أَتَتْ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيْلَةٌ مِنْ دَهْرِهِ إِلَّا كَانَ الَّذِي عَلَيْهِ أَكْثَرَ مِمَّا لَهُ " . قَالَ : فَقَالَ لَهُ بَعْضُ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : قَدْ رَأَيْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْتَسْلِفُ وَقَالَ : غَيْرُ يَحْيَى : وَاللَّهِ مَا مَرَّ بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثَلَاثَةٌ مِنَ الدَّهْرِ إِلَّا وَالَّذِي عَلَيْهِ أَكْثَرُ مِنَ الَّذِي لَهُ.
Hazrat Amr bin Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) once addressed the people in Egypt and said, "How far you have gone from the way of your Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)? He was extremely disinterested in the world, while you love and desire the world greatly. By Allah, there was never a night in the life of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in which his financial burden was not greater than his financial abundance, and some of the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) used to say that we ourselves saw the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) taking loans." Yahya mentions three days.
