حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ الْمُخْتَارِ ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْعَاصِ ، قَالَ : بَعَثَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى جَيْشِ ذَاتِ السَّلَاسِلِ ، قَالَ : فَأَتَيْتُهُ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَيُّ النَّاسِ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْكَ ؟ قَالَ : " عَائِشَةُ " . قَالَ : قُلْتُ : مِنَ الرِّجَالِ ؟ قَالَ : " أَبُوهَا إِذًا " . قَالَ : قُلْتُ : ثُمَّ مَنْ ؟ قَالَ : " ثُمَّ عُمَرُ " قَالَ : فَعَدَّ رِجَالًا .
It is narrated from Hazrat Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) appointed me as the commander over the army of Dhat al-Salasil. I presented myself before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and asked, "O Messenger of Allah! (peace and blessings be upon him) Who is the most beloved to you among the people?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "Aisha." I asked, "Among the men?" He said, "Her father." I asked, "Then who?" He said, "Umar." In this way, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned the names of several men.
