It is narrated from Hazrat Amr bin Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once there was fear and panic spread in Madinah Munawwarah. I went to Salim, the freed slave of Hazrat Abu Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him), and he had his sword strapped on. I also took my sword and strapped it on. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O people! In this time of panic, why did you not come to Allah and His Messenger? Then he said: Why did you not do as these two believing men did?
