Hadith 17803

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، عَن قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ رَجَاءِ بْنِ حَيْوَةَ ، عَنْ قَبِيصَةَ بْنِ ذُؤَيْبٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ ، قَالَ : " لَا تَلْبِسُوا عَلَيْنَا سُنَّةَ نَبِيِّنَا ، عِدَّةُ أُمِّ الْوَلَدِ إِذَا تُوُفِّيَ عَنْهَا سَيِّدُهَا : أَرْبَعَةُ أَشْهُرٍ وَعَشْرٌ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Amr bin Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) that do not create confusion for us regarding the Sunnah of our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); if the master of an umm walad passes away, her waiting period (‘iddah) will be four months and ten days.
