Abu Murrah says that once he came with Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) to his father Amr bin Al-As (may Allah be pleased with him). He brought food before both of them and said, "Eat." He (Abdullah) said, "I am fasting." Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Eat, for during these days the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to command us to eat and drink and forbid us from fasting." The days referred to are the days of Tashreeq.
