حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ ، وَحَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي الْأَعْمَشُ ، الْمَعْنَى ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ , عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ابْنِ حَسَنَةَ ، قَالَ وَكِيعٌ : الْجُهَنِيُّ ، قَالَ : غَزَوْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَصَابَتْنَا مَجَاعَةٌ ، فَنَزَلْنَا بِأَرْضٍ كَثِيرَةِ الضِّبَابِ ، فَاتَّخَذْنَا مِنْهَا ، فَطَبَخْنَا فِي قُدُورِنَا ، فَسَأَلْنَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " أُمَّةٌ فُقِدَتْ أَوْ مُسِخَتْ ، شَكَّ يَحْيَى وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ " فَأَمَرَنَا فَأَكْفَأْنَا الْقُدُورَ . قَالَ وَكِيعٌ : " مُسِخَتْ ، فَأَخْشَى أَنْ تَكُونَ هَذِهِ " فَأَكْفَأْنَاهَا وَإِنَّا لَجِيَاعٌ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Hasnah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we were on a journey with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). We camped in an area where there was an abundance of lizards. We caught them and slaughtered them. Then we asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about them, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said that a group from the Children of Israel had disappeared (I fear that these might be the same), therefore, turn over the pots. So we turned them over, even though we were hungry at that time.
