Hadith 17733

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Tha’labah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I submitted in the court of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him): O Messenger of Allah! (peace and blessings be upon him) we are hunters (please tell us the rulings regarding hunting). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When you release your dog for hunting and recite Bismillah, then whatever it hunts, you may eat it. I asked: Even if the dog has killed the prey? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes, even if it has killed it. I asked: We are archers. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whatever your bow returns to you, you may eat it. I asked: We are travelers, we pass by the Jews, Christians, and Magians, and we do not find any utensils except theirs? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If you do not find any utensils except theirs, then wash them with water, then you may eat and drink from them.
