حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نَاسِحٍ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ وَكَانَ قَدْ أَدْرَكَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ ، وَعُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا فَمَنْ دُونَهُمَا عَنْ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ عَبْدٍ السُّلَمِيِّ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ : " قُومُوا فَقَاتِلُوا " قَالُوا : نَعَمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، وَلَا نَقُولُ كَمَا قَالَتْ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ لِمُوسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام : انْطَلِقْ أَنْتَ وَرَبُّكَ فَقَاتِلَا إِنَّا هَاهُنَا قَاعِدُونَ ، وَلَكِنْ انْطَلِقْ أَنْتَ وَرَبُّكَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ فَقَاتِلَا ، وَإِنَّا مَعَكُمَا نُقَاتِلُ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Utbah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the command for fighting. He said, "O Messenger of Allah! (peace and blessings be upon him) We will not say like the Children of Israel that you and your Lord go and fight, we are sitting here. Rather, we will say that you and your Lord go and fight, we too will be among those who fight alongside you."
