حَدَّثَنَا عِصَامُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نَاسِجٍ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي عُتْبَةُ بْنُ عَبْدٍ ، قَالَ : أَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالْقِتَالِ ، فَرَمِيَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ بِسَهْمٍ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَوْجَبَ هَذَا " . وَقَالُوا حِينَ أَمَرَهُمْ بِالْقِتَالِ : إِذًا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، لَا نَقُولُ كَمَا قَالَتْ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ : اذْهَبْ أَنْتَ وَرَبُّكَ فَقَاتِلَا إِنَّا هَهُنَا قَاعِدُونَ ، وَلَكِنْ اذْهَبْ أَنْتَ وَرَبُّكَ فَقَاتِلَا ، إِنَّا مَعَكُمَا مِنَ الْمُقَاتِلِينَ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Utbah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gave the command for fighting. During this, a companion (may Allah be pleased with him) was struck by an arrow. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "He has made Paradise obligatory for himself." When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had given them the command to fight, he had said, "O Messenger of Allah! (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) We will not say like the Children of Israel that you and your Lord go and fight, we are sitting here. Rather, we will say that you and your Lord go and fight, we too will be among those who fight alongside you."
