It is narrated from Hazrat Hanzalah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we set out with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for a battle. We passed by a woman who had been killed by the vanguard. People had gathered there. The people made way for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stopped by her body and said, "She would not have participated in the fighting." Then he said to a companion (may Allah be pleased with him), "Go to Khalid and tell him that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commands you not to kill children and laborers." The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain.
