حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ أَبِي اللَّيْثِ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَشْجَعِيُّ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ يَعْلَى بْنِ مُرَّةَ الثَّقَفِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عن جَدِّهِ ، قَالَ : أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجُلٌ عَلَيْهِ خَاتَمٌ مِنَ الذَّهَبِ عَظِيمٌ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَتُزَكِّي هَذَا ؟ " فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، فَمَا زَكَاةُ هَذَا ؟ ! فَلَمَّا أَدْبَرَ الرَّجُلُ ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " جَمْرَةٌ عَظِيمَةٌ عَلَيْهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Ya'la (may Allah be pleased with him) that once a man came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wearing a very large (heavy) gold ring. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him, "Do you pay its zakat?" He asked, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), what is its zakat?" When he went back, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "This is a very large spark (of fire) for him."
