حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ غَيْلَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا رِشْدِينُ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، وَالْحَسَنُ بْنُ ثَوْبَانَ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْخَيْرِ ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ ، قَالَ : سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَتَصَدَّقَ بِحُلِيٍّ كَانَ لِأُمِّهِ عَنْ أُمِّهِ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَمَرَتْكَ بِذَلِكَ ؟ " قَالَ : لَا ، قَالَ : " فَلَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Uqbah bin Aamir (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "My mother has passed away and she has left behind some jewelry. Should I give it in charity?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him, "Did she instruct you to do so?" He replied, "No." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Then keep your mother's jewelry safe."
