حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ ابْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا الضَّحَّاكِ بْنِ مَخْلَدٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ابْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ مَرْثَدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْيَزَنِيِّ ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ ، قَالَ : أُهْدِيَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَرُّوجُ حَرِيرٍ ، فَلَبِسَهُ ، فَصَلَّى فِيهِ بِالنَّاسِ الْمَغْرِبَ ، فَلَمَّا سَلَّمَ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ نَزَعَهُ نَزْعًا عَنِيفًا ، ثُمَّ أَلْقَاهُ ، فَقُلْنَا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، قَدْ لَبِسْتَهُ وَصَلَّيْتَ فِيهِ ! قَالَ : " إِنَّ هَذَا لَا يَنْبَغِي لِلْمُتَّقِينَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once a silk garment was presented as a gift to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wore it and led us in the Maghrib prayer. After finishing the prayer, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took it off restlessly and said, "This clothing is not befitting for the God-fearing."
