حَدَّثَنَا حَيْوَةُ بْنُ شُرَيْحٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا بَحِيرُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ مَعْدَانَ ، عَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُهْدِيَتْ لَهُ بَغْلَةٌ شَهْبَاءُ ، فَرَكِبَهَا ، فَأَخَذَ عُقْبَةُ يَقُودُهَا لَهُ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِعُقْبَةَ : " اقْرَأْ " ، فَقَالَ : وَمَا أَقْرَأُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اقْرَأْ : قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ فَأَعَادَهَا عَلَيْهِ حَتَّى قَرَأَهَا ، فَعَرَفَ أَنِّي لَمْ أَفْرَحْ بِهَا جِدًّا ، فَقَالَ : " لَعَلَّكَ تَهَاوَنْتَ بِهَا ! فَمَا قُمْتَ تُصَلِّي بِشَيْءٍ مِثْلِهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once a white mule was presented as a gift to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) from somewhere. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) rode on it, and Hazrat Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) began to drive it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him, "Recite." He submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! (peace and blessings be upon him) What should I recite?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Recite Surah Al-Alaq." So he recited it before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). However, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) realized that I was not very pleased with it. So he said, "Perhaps it seems little to you? You will not recite any surah in prayer more eloquent than Surah Al-Falaq."
