Hadith 17340

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا كَعْبُ بْنُ عَلْقَمَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ شِمَاسَةَ ، يَقُولُ : أَتَيْنَا أَبَا الْخَيْرِ فَقَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عُقْبَةَ بْنَ عَامِرٍ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " إِنَّمَا النَّذْرُ يَمِينٌ ، كَفَّارَتُهَا كَفَّارَةُ الْيَمِينِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Uqbah bin Aamir (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: The expiation for a vow is the same as the expiation for an oath.
