Hadith 17328

حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ شِمَاسَةَ التُّجِيبِيِّ ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " لَا يَحِلُّ لِامْرِئٍ مُسْلِمٍ يَخْطُبُ عَلَى خِطْبَةِ أَخِيهِ حَتَّى يَتْرُكَ ، وَلَا يَبِيعُ عَلَى بَيْعِ أَخِيهِ حَتَّى يَتْرُكَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: It is not lawful for a person to send his marriage proposal over the proposal of his brother until he leaves it, and likewise, it is not lawful to sell over his sale unless he leaves it.
