Hadith 17314

It is narrated from Hazrat Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that we used to do our own work and would take turns herding the camels. One day, when it was my turn and I took them out at noon, I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) standing before the people and addressing them. What I heard at that moment was this: Whoever among you performs ablution and does it well, then stands and offers two rak‘ahs in which he turns his heart and face attentively towards Allah, Paradise becomes obligatory for him and all his sins are forgiven. I said, "How excellent this is!" Upon this, the man ahead of me said, "Uqbah! The statement before this was even better." I looked and saw that it was Hazrat Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him). I asked, "O Abu Hafs! What is that statement?" He replied, "Before you came, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever among you performs ablution and does it well, then says: 'Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah wahdahu la sharika lahu wa anna Muhammadan abduhu wa rasuluhu' (I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, He is alone, He has no partner, and that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger), then all eight gates of Paradise will be opened for him, and he may enter through whichever gate he wishes."
