Rabi’ah bin Shayban says that I asked Sayyiduna Imam Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) if he remembered anything from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He replied: Once I climbed up to the upper room where the charity goods were kept. I picked up a date and began to chew it in my mouth. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Take it out, for charity is not lawful for us.”
