Hadith 17288

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا رِشْدِينُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ أَيُّوبَ الْغَافِقِيِّ ، عَنْ بَعْضِ وَلَدِ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ ، عَنْ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ ، قَالَ : نَادَانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنَا عَلَى بَطْنِ امْرَأَتِي ، فَقُمْتُ وَلَمْ أُنْزِلْ ، فَاغْتَسَلْتُ ، وَخَرَجْتُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ أَنَّكَ دَعَوْتَنِي وَأَنَا عَلَى بَطْنِ امْرَأَتِي ، فَقُمْتُ وَلَمْ أُنْزِلْ ، فَاغْتَسَلْتُ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا عَلَيْكَ الْمَاءُ مِنَ الْمَاءِ " ، قَالَ رَافِعٌ : ثُمَّ أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ بِالْغُسْلِ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called out to me from outside my house. At that time, I was "engaged" with my wife. Hearing the call, I stood up. At that time, ejaculation had not occurred, but I performed ghusl (ritual bath) and came out to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and informed him that when you called me, I was engaged with my wife. I stood up immediately; ejaculation had not occurred, but I performed ghusl. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "There was no need for that; ghusl becomes obligatory upon ejaculation." Later, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us to perform ghusl.
