Hadith 1728

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ , وَالْحَسَنَ بْنَ عَلِيّ : " مَرَّتْ بِهِمَا جِنَازَةٌ ، فَقَامَ أَحَدُهُمَا وَجَلَسَ الْآخَرُ ، فَقَالَ الَّذِي قَامَ : أَمَا تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَامَ ؟ قَالَ : بَلَى ، وَقَعَدَ " .
Muhammad bin Sirin, may Allah have mercy on him, says that I have learned that once a funeral passed by in front of Sayyiduna Imam Hasan, may Allah be pleased with him, and Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with both of them. Sayyiduna Hasan, may Allah be pleased with him, stood up and Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with both of them, remained seated. Sayyiduna Imam Hasan, may Allah be pleased with him, said: Did you not see that when a funeral passed by the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, he stood up? He said: Why not, but later the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, started remaining seated.
