Hadith 17229

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شَرِيكُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعَلَيَّ شَمْلَةٌ أَوْ شَمْلَتَانِ ، فَقَالَ لِي : " هَلْ لَكَ مِنْ مَالٍ ؟ " قُلْتُ : نَعَمْ ، قَدْ آتَانِي اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مِنْ كُلِّ مَالِهِ مِنْ خَيْلِهِ ، وَإِبِلِهِ ، وَغَنَمِهِ ، وَرَقِيقِهِ ، فَقَالَ : " فَإِذَا آتَاكَ اللَّهُ مَالًا ، فَلْيَرَ عَلَيْكَ نِعْمَتَهُ " ، فَرُحْتُ إِلَيْهِ فِي حُلَّةٍ . .
It is narrated from the father of Hazrat Abu’l-Ahwas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw me in a disheveled state and asked, "Do you have any wealth?" I replied, "Yes!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "What kind of wealth?" I replied, "Allah has granted me all kinds of wealth, such as goats and camels, etc." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Then the effects of Allah’s blessings and honor should be visible on you." Accordingly, in the evening I appeared before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wearing a cloak. The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
