It is narrated from Hazrat Sa’d bin Atwal (may Allah be pleased with him) that my brother passed away, leaving behind three hundred dinars and small children. I wanted to spend something on them, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Your brother has died in debt, so go and pay off his debt first. So I went and paid off his debt, then I came and submitted, O Messenger of Allah! (peace and blessings be upon him) I have paid all my brother’s debts, and except for one woman, no creditor remains; she claims two dinars but has no witness. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Consider her truthful and pay her debt as well.
