قَالَ عَامِرٌ فَحَدَّثْتُ بِهِ مُعَاوِيَةَ ، فَقَالَ : لَيْسَ هَكَذَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَلَكِنَّهُ قَالَ : " هُمْ مِنِّي وَإِلَيَّ " ، فَقَالَ : لَيْسَ هَكَذَا ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَلَكِنَّهُ قَالَ : " هُمْ مِنِّي ، وَأَنَا مِنْهُمْ " ، قَالَ : فَأَنْتَ إِذًا أَعْلَمُ بِحَدِيثِ أَبِيكَ ، قَالَ عَبْد اللَّهِ : هَذَا مِنْ أَجْوَدِ الْحَدِيثِ مَا رَوَاهُ إِلَّا جَرِيرٌ.
Sayyiduna Abu Amir’s son, Amir, says: I narrated this hadith to Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him), so he said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not say «هُمࣿ منّيِ» after «وَاَنَا مِنهُمࣿ», rather he said «وَإِلَيَّ». Amir said: My father did not narrate it like this, rather he said «وَ اَنَا مِنࣿهُمࣿ». So Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: You would know your father’s hadith better.
