Hadith 171

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the wealth obtained from Banu Nadir was from the category of Fay’ (spoils of war without battle), which Allah granted to His Prophet, and the Muslims did not have to ride horses or any other mounts for it. Therefore, this wealth was exclusively for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would give his pure wives their yearly maintenance from it at once, and whatever remained, he would use to provide horses and other weapons that could be used in jihad.
