(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ ، قَالَ : بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَيْشَ ذَاتِ السُّلَاسِلِ ، فَاسْتَعْمَلَ أَبَا عُبَيْدَةَ عَلَى الْمُهَاجِرِينَ ، وَاسْتَعْمَلَ عَمْرَو بْنَ الْعَاصِ عَلَى الْأَعْرَابِ ، فَقَالَ لَهُمَا : تَطَاوَعَا ، قَالَ : وَكَانُوا يُؤْمَرُونَ أَنْ يُغِيرُوا عَلَى بَكْرٍ ، فَانْطَلَقَ عَمْرٌو ، فَأَغَارَ عَلَى قُضَاعَةَ لِأَنَّ بَكْرًا أَخْوَالُهُ ، فَانْطَلَقَ الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ إِلَى أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اسْتَعْمَلَكَ عَلَيْنَا ، وَإِنَّ ابْنَ فُلَانٍ قَدْ ارْتَبَعَ أَمْرَ الْقَوْمِ وَلَيْسَ لَكَ مَعَهُ أَمْرٌ ، فَقَالَ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أَمَرَنَا ، أَنْ نَتَطَاوَعَ ، فَأَنَا أُطِيعُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَإِنْ عَصَاهُ عَمْرٌو " .
Imam Sha’bi (may Allah have mercy on him) says that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) dispatched the army of Dhat al-Salasil, he appointed Sayyiduna Abu Ubaidah (may Allah be pleased with him) as the commander over the Muhajirun and Sayyiduna ‘Amr ibn al-‘As (may Allah be pleased with him) as the commander over the Bedouins, and he said to both of them, “Obey one another.” The narrator says that they were ordered to attack Banu Bakr, but Sayyiduna ‘Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) attacked Banu Quda‘ah instead, because he had kinship ties with Banu Bakr. Seeing this, Sayyiduna Mughirah ibn Shu‘bah (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Sayyiduna Abu Ubaidah (may Allah be pleased with him) and said, “The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) appointed you as our commander, but so-and-so’s son has taken control of the people’s affairs, and it seems your command is not effective?” Sayyiduna Abu Ubaidah (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, “The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered us to obey one another. I will continue to follow the command of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), even if ‘Amr does not.”
