It is narrated from multiple elders that they were present with Sayyiduna Ghudhayf bin Harith (may Allah be pleased with him) (during his illness of death). When his soul had difficulty departing, he began to say, "Has anyone among you recited Surah Yaseen?" Upon this, Salih bin Shurayh Sakuni began to recite Surah Yaseen. When he reached its fortieth verse, his soul was taken. Since then, the elders have been saying that when Surah Yaseen is recited near the deceased, it makes the departure of the soul easier. Safwan says that Isa bin Mu'tamir also recited Surah Yaseen near Ibn Ma'bad.
