حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَامِرَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ جَرِيرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ ، يَقُولُ وَهُوَ يَخْطُبُ : تُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ ابْنُ ثَلَاثٍ وَسِتِّينَ ، وَتُوُفِّيَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ وَهُوَ ابْنُ ثَلَاثٍ وَسِتِّينَ ، وَتُوُفِّيَ عُمَرُ وَهُوَ ابْنُ ثَلَاثٍ وَسِتِّينَ ، قَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ : وَأَنَا الْيَوْمَ ابْنُ ثَلَاثٍ وَسِتِّينَ
Jarir says that I heard Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) saying during a sermon that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, he was sixty-three years old; when Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away, he was also sixty-three years old; when Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away, he was also sixty-three years old; and now I too have reached sixty-three years of age.
