Humaid bin Abdur Rahman says that he heard Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) giving a sermon on the pulpit while holding a bunch of hair in his hands, saying: "O people of Madinah! Where are your scholars? I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbidding such things, and he said that punishment came upon the Children of Israel only when their women made this their occupation."
