حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، عَنْ حَسَّانَ بْنِ عَطِيَّةَ ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ مَعْدَانَ ، عَنْ ذِي مِخْمَرٍ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " سَتُصَالِحُكُمْ الرُّومُ صُلْحًا آمِنًا ، ثُمَّ تَغْزُونَ وَهُمْ عَدُوًّا ، فَتُنْصَرُونَ ، وَتَسْلَمُونَ ، وَتَغْنَمُونَ ، ثُمَّ تَنْصُرِفُونَ حَتَّى تَنْزِلُوا بِمَرْجٍ ذِي تُلُولٍ ، فَيَرْفَعُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ النَّصْرَانِيَّةِ صَلِيبًا ، فَيَقُولُ : غَلَبَ الصَّلِيبُ ، فَيَغْضَبُ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ ، فَيَقُومُ إِلَيْهِ فَيَدُقُّهُ ، فَعِنْدَ ذَلِكَ يَغْدِرُ الرُّومُ ، وَيَجْمَعُونَ لِلْمَلْحَمَةِ "
It is narrated from Hazrat Dhu Mukhmar (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Soon the Romans will make a peace treaty with you, then you and they will fight together against a common enemy. You will be victorious in that battle and will return safely with spoils of war. When you reach a place called Dhi Tulul, a Christian will raise a cross and say, "The cross has prevailed." At this, a Muslim will become angry and will stand up to respond to him. From there, the Romans will break the treaty and begin preparations for war.
