(حديث مرفوع) قال عَبْد اللَّهِ بن أحمد : حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو مُوسَى الْعَنْزِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي سَكَنُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ فَرْقَدٍ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ خَبَّابٍ السُّلَمِيِّ ، قَالَ : " خطَبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَحَثَّ عَلَى جَيْشِ الْعُسْرَةِ " ، فَقَالَ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَفَّانَ : عَلَيَّ مِئَةُ بَعِيرٍ بِأَحْلَاسِهَا وَأَقْتَابِهَا ، قَالَ : ثُمَّ حَثَّ ، فَقَالَ عُثْمَانُ : عَلَيَّ مِائَةٌ أُخْرَى بِأَحْلَاسِهَا وَأَقْتَابِهَا ، قَالَ : ثُمَّ نَزَلَ مَرْقَاةً مِنَ الْمِنْبَرِ ثُمَّ حَثَّ ، فَقَالَ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَفَّانَ : عَلَيَّ مِئَةٌ أُخْرَى بِأَحْلَاسِهَا ، وَأَقْتَابِهَا ، قَالَ : فَرَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ بِيَدِهِ هَكَذَا يُحَرِّكُهَا وَأَخْرَجَ عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ يَدَهُ كَالْمُتَعَجِّبِ " مَا عَلَى عُثْمَانَ مَا عَمِلَ بَعْدَ هَذَا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Khabbab Salmi (may Allah be pleased with him) that once, on the occasion of the Battle of Tabuk, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) encouraged the people to give financial support while delivering a sermon. Sayyiduna Uthman Ghani said, "One hundred camels with saddles and reins are my responsibility." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) encouraged the people in the same way three times, and each time Sayyiduna Uthman Ghani took the responsibility of one hundred camels. The narrator says, "I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) waving his hand and saying, 'After today, whatever Uthman does will not harm him.'"
