(حديث مرفوع) قال عَبْد اللَّهِ بن أحمد : حَدَّثَنِي إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعْدٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا أَبِي ، عَنْ صَالِحٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ كَيْسَانَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، أَنَّ عُبَيْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّ الصَّعْبَ بْنَ جَثَّامَةَ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّهُ أَهْدَى لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِمَارَ وَحْشٍ وَهُوَ بِوَدَّانَ ، فَرَدَّهُ عَلَيْهِ ، قَالَ : فَلَمَّا رَأَى مَا فِي وَجْهِي ، قَالَ : " إِنَّا لَمْ نَرُدَّهُ عَلَيْكَ إِلَّا أَنَّا حُرُمٌ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa'b bin Jathamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once at the place of Wada'un, I presented the meat of a wild donkey as a gift to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned it to me. And when he saw signs of sadness on my face, he said: There is no reason for returning it except that we are in the state of Ihram.
