(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ ، عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ قَوْمِهِ ، قَالَ : كَانَ يَقُولُ فِي خِلَافَةِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ : لَا يَمُوتُ عُثْمَانُ حَتَّى يُسْتَخْلَفَ ، قُلْنَا : مِنْ أَيْنَ تَعْلَمُ ذَلِكَ ؟ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " رَأَيْتُ اللَّيْلَةَ فِي الْمَنَامِ كَأَنَّ ثَلَاثَةً مِنْ أَصْحَابِي وُزِنُوا ، فَوُزِنَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ، فَوَزَنَ ، ثُمَّ وُزِنَ عُمَرُ ، فَوَزَنَ ، ثُمَّ وُزِنَ عُثْمَانُ ، فَنَقَصَ صَاحِبُنَا وَهُوَ صَالِحٌ " .
Aswad bin Hilal narrates from a man of his tribe who used to say during the caliphate of Sayyiduna Umar that Sayyiduna Uthman Ghani will not pass away until he becomes the caliph. We asked him, "How do you know this?" He replied, "I once heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) say: 'Tonight I saw in a dream that the weight of three of my companions was measured. So, the weight of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr was measured and his scale became heavy. Then the weight of Sayyiduna Umar was measured and his scale also became heavy. Then the weight of Sayyiduna Uthman was measured, and our companion's weight was less, and he is a righteous man.'"
