Fanj says that I used to work in 'Dainbaz' (name of a place). During that time, Ya'la bin Umayyah became the governor of Yemen, and some companions of the Prophet also came with him. One of those men came to me while I was irrigating my field. That man had walnuts in his pocket. He sat down on the water channel and started breaking and eating the walnuts. Then that person signaled to me to come to him, saying, "O Persian! Come here." When I went near, he said, "Can you guarantee me that walnut trees can be planted near this water?" I asked, "What benefit will I get from this guarantee?" That person said, "I have heard with these two ears of mine the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: Whoever plants a tree and takes care of it and fulfills its needs until it bears fruit, then whatever benefits from its fruit, it will be considered charity for him in the sight of Allah." Fanj asked, "Did you really hear the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say this?" The man replied, "Yes!" Upon this, Fanj gave him the guarantee, and until now, the walnuts of that place are famous.
