It is narrated from Sayyiduna Salamah bin Akwa’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that my uncle ‘Amir came to me and said, “Give me your weapon.” I gave it to him. Then I went to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said, “O Messenger of Allah! Provide me with a weapon.” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked, “Where is your own weapon?” I replied, “I have given it to my uncle ‘Amir.” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Other than this, I do not recall any comparison about you except that a man said to another, ‘Give me your brother who is dearer to me than my own life.’” Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) granted me his bow, shield, and took out three arrows from his quiver and gave them to me.
