Sayyiduna Itban bin Malik had extremely weak eyesight (he was almost blind). He mentioned to the Prophet (ﷺ) that he missed the congregational prayer. The Prophet (ﷺ) asked him, "Do you hear the call to prayer (adhan)?" He replied, "Yes!" So the Prophet (ﷺ) did not grant him permission to be absent.
