It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa'b bin Jathamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed by me while I was at the place of Abwa or Waddan. The Prophet (peace be upon him) was in the state of Ihram. I presented to him the meat of a wild donkey as a gift, but the Prophet (peace be upon him) returned it to me. When he saw signs of sadness on my face, he said: "There is no reason for returning it except that we are in the state of Ihram." And I heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) say: "It is not permissible for anyone except Allah and His Messenger to declare any area as a sanctuary." And the Prophet (peace be upon him) was asked about the families of those polytheists upon whom a night raid is carried out, and during which their women and children are also killed. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "They (the women and children) are also among the polytheists (and will be counted among them)."
