Abdullah bin Zalim reports that once Sayyiduna Mughirah bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him) was delivering a sermon when a person spoke disrespectfully about Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). Upon this, Sayyiduna Sa’id bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) left the gathering and said: Are you not astonished at the person who is speaking ill of Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him)? I bear witness that once we were on Mount Hira or Uhud when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) addressed Mount Hira and said: “O Hira! Remain firm, for none is upon you except a Prophet, a Siddiq, or a Martyr.” Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned the names of ten men, among whom were Sayyiduna Abu Bakr as-Siddiq, Sayyiduna Umar, Sayyiduna Uthman, Sayyiduna Ali, Sayyiduna Talhah, Sayyiduna Zubair, Sayyiduna Sa’d, Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf, and Sayyiduna Sa’id bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with them all).
