(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِيَاسٍ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ أَبِي إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ غُلَامٌ صَغِيرٌ ، " فَمَسَحَ رَأْسَهُ ، وَاسْتَغْفَرَ لَهُ " ، قَالَ شُعْبَةُ : قُلْنَا لَهُ صُحْبَةٌ ؟ ، قَالَ : لَا ، وَلَكِنَّهُ كَانَ عَلَى عَهْدِهِ قَدْ حَلَبَ وَصَرَّ .
Abu Ayas narrates from his father: My father, in his childhood, presented himself in the service of the Prophet (peace be upon him). The Prophet (peace be upon him) prayed for his forgiveness and passed his hand over his head. Shu’bah says: We asked him whether he also had the honor of companionship (i.e., being a Companion). He replied: No, but during the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him), he used to milk the animals and tie up the udders of the animals.
