It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Razin that once I submitted in the court of the Messenger: O Messenger of Allah! How will Allah bring the dead to life? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Have you ever passed through a valley where there was no fruit before, and then when you passed by it again, it had become lush and green? I said: Yes. He said: In the same way, the dead will be brought to life.
Then I asked: O Messenger of Allah! What is faith? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: To bear witness that there is no deity except Allah and that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger, and that Allah and His Messenger become more beloved to you than anything else, and that you would prefer to be burned in the fire rather than return to polytheism, and that you love someone only for the sake of Allah, even if he has no blood relation with you. When you reach this state, then know that the love of faith has entered your heart, just as in the intense heat of summer, a thirsty person feels the desire in his heart.
Then I asked: O Messenger of Allah! How can I know about myself whether I am a believer? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Any of my followers who does a good deed and considers it a good deed, and believes that Allah will surely reward him for it, or commits a sin and realizes that it is a sin, and seeks forgiveness for it, and believes that no one can forgive him except Allah, then he is a believer.
