(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنْ يُوسُفَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ قَالَ : جَاءَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّ أَبِي أَدْرَكَهُ الْإِسْلَامُ ، وَهُوَ شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ رُكُوبَ الرَّحْلِ ، وَالْحَجُّ مَكْتُوبٌ عَلَيْهِ ، أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهُ ؟ ، قَالَ : " أَنْتَ أَكْبَرُ وَلَدِهِ ؟ " ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : " أَرَأَيْتَ لَوْ كَانَ عَلَى أَبِيكَ دَيْنٌ فَقَضَيْتَهُ عَنْهُ ، أَكَانَ ذَلِكَ يُجْزِئُ عَنْهُ ؟ " ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : " فَاحْجُجْ عَنْهُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zubair that a man from Banu Khath'am came to the service of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said, "My father has become a Muslim. He is so weak and old that he cannot even ride a mount. Hajj is obligatory upon him. Can I perform Hajj on his behalf?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked, "Are you his eldest son?" He replied, "Yes." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Tell me, if your father had a debt and you paid it off, would it be considered paid on his behalf?" He said, "Yes." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Then perform Hajj on his behalf as well."
